General Information
Age Categories
Junior - students born in 2011 or later
Intermediate - students born in 2010
Senior - students born in 2009 or earlier
*All students must be in grades 7 - 9
Distances
All students will run the same distances in the first three meets. Orienteering Run distances will be determined by the athlete.
City Championships Distances:
Junior - 2000m
Intermediate - 3000m
Senior - 4000m
Season
One scheduled meet per week to the City Championships.
Athletes should enter at least two of the September meets to qualify for City Championships
Awards
Team Awards:
- Tiers 1, 2 and 3 Team Champions – aggregate scores to be awarded according to team results
in a category to gain a placing in that category.
Example: school 1 - 2nd, 10th, 15th = 27 total
school 2 – 1st, 11th, 17th = 29 total
Step 2: School are ranked by placing totals and top 10 in each category are given aggregate points
Example: school 1 (1st) = 10 aggregate points
school 2 (2nd) = 9 aggregate points
Step 3: Aggregate points are tabulated and sorted by Tier.
In the event of a tie - the best place finish of the first runner is considered.
Individual Awards
- Gold, silver, bronze medals
- Participation ribbons - all City Championship finishers
